JULY 2007 NEWSLETTER

The July General Membership meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 24th at 7PM. The meeting will take place at the Holly Springs Church Fellowship Hall.

At the July meeting we will be instituting the Member Attendance Award. Every month we will add $25 to this award. The only catch is that you have to be present when your name is drawn. If the member is not present the monies in the award pot will roll over to the next meeting, and will continue to roll over until it is won. GOOD LUCK!!!

Our membership as of 7/16/07 is 159 (128 Active- 6 Affiliate- 25 Associate)

Last month, in response to member concerns about the insurance solicitation lady, I had occasion to speak with her at great length about your concerns. Unfortunately I am also guilty of not remembering the letter that was sent out by State President Don Penix. With this newsletter I am attaching Mary Roadruck’s response, the letter originally sent by Don Penix and a third letter addressing the ChildSafe Kit. If you have any questions you can call me at 828-342-4056 or if you wish you can contact the American Income Life representative, Mary Roadruck, at 828-550-3211

The Lodge web-site is being updated. Please visit our site fop81nc.org and let Brother Jim Lau (jlau-ret@verizon.net) know what you think of the update. Jim would also like your feed back on any thing (items) that you might like added to the site. While Jim is home recuperating, he has done a great job with this project.

Our Ways & Means Chairman, Brother Joe Hall, would like to announce the start of our Annual Fund Raising Raffle. This year he has obtained 6 prizes—The First, Second & Third prize will be a Pros-Spec Military Watch (Value $80). The Fourth prize will be a Hand Tooled Leather Bible (Value $400). The Fifth prize will be a Charles Daly 12G Semi-automatic Shotgun with 3 Chokes (Value $700). The sixth and Grand prize will be a 62” Flat Screen TV (Value $2100). To help make this years raffle a success please make every effort to sell as many books as possible. Also the Circus that was to be held on August 24 & 25 has been put on hold due to a schedule conflict.

The Auxiliary will meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at Holly Springs Fellowship Hall. If any one is interested in joining the Auxiliary please contact Natalie R Whitaker at NATALIE74@smnet.net

The FOP web-site WWW.FOP.NET is up and running. Please take the time to visit this new site.

Don’t forget that you can make changes regarding address change etc. yourself. Take a minute and review your personal information as it is listed with the National Lodge. If you need help please call me at 349-0698 and I will be happy to walk you though the program

The Sheriff’s Office is looking for volunteers to man the front desk. If you have any interest in volunteering please contact Brother Larry Miller @349-2264 or Sgt Eddie Green @349-2575.

Thoughts, Prayers And Well Wishes to Joan Chadd, wife of Brother David Chadd. Joan is seriously ill. Also still recuperating are Clay Bryson, Richard Shanken & Amber Willis. Brother John Lynch has taken a turn for the worse and his wife Kathleen has broken her leg.

Congratulations to Brother Tony Ashe and wife Amy on the birth of their daughter Isabella Hayes
