WALT BECK TAKES OATH OF OFFICE

Incoming President Walter Beck takes oath of office from past president Bill Driggers at our March, 2003 meeting. Walt begins his two year term which he says he is really looking forward to.

 

OUR NEXT LODGE MEETING WILL BE APRIL 22ND, 2003 AT 7 PM.  

We will be serving grilled chicken sandwich along with chips and salad. Dessert and drink will also be available.

We are able to provide our meals by members support of our 50/50 drawings which covers food costs and also builds our social event fund.  THANK YOU FOR ALL WHO SUPPORT US.

LODGE SWEARS IN OUR LATEST MEMBERS

Lodge #81 membership increase this past meeting with the swearing in of our former sheriff  of Macon County, Homer Holbrooks.  Also receiving an abbreviated oath was Chad Stone of the Macon County Sheriff's Office.

LODGE MEETING DATES

Monthly Lodge meeting are on the 4th Tuesday of each month starting at 7:00 PM.

Board meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 11:30 AM. We meet at "The Factory"

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT MACON COUNTY DETENTION CENTER

Brother Larry Miller thanks lodge members for their volunteer support at the detention center  . If you or anyone you know has a  few hours a week to volunteer have them contact Larry Miller at the detention center. Telephone number is 524-2811.

LODGE "RAFFLE FOR SCHOLARSHIPS FUND RAISER"

Chairman John O’Connor has made distribution of the  scholarship raffle tickets and asks that members be active in the sales.  If you need additional tickets call John at 524-4311.   The project will enable the lodge to offer college scholarships to high school students for the fall college session. The details on promoting this project can be explained by also contacting John.

LODGE BOARD MEETS 

During the monthly board meeting the following items were approved:

1.  Wal-mart shopping cards to assist the families of the law enforcement officers that were called up for Iraqi Freedom.  There were five from our Macon -Jackson area.  

2.  Annual Chicken BBQ to be held in August. Details are forthcoming.

3.  FOP Rummage sale to be held in conjunction with the BBQ. Storage area has been gotten and we can start putting items there.

LODGE ANNIVERSARY IN MARCH

FOP Lodge #81 will celebrate its 1st anniversary in March.  Tentative plans for a lodge celebration are being made for April.  More information on that event will be forthcoming.

The secretary has "FOP" items for sale if a member would like to make a purchase.  Items include Ball Caps ($10.00); Adhesive Metal FOP decals ($4.00);  Largo FOP Navy Blue T-Shirt ($10.00)

The secretary also has the latest catalog for viewing and orders may be placed when needed.
