OCTOBER 2007 NEWSLETTER
The October General Membership meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd at 7PM. The meeting will take place at the Holly Springs Church Fellowship Hall.
At the September meeting the Member Attendance Award was won by Brother Jerry DeHart. Unfortunately Brother Jerry was not present, so October’s award will be $50. Remember you have to be present to collect the award.
Our membership as of 10/15/07 is 164 (131 Active- 8 Affiliate- 25 Associate)
At the October General Membership meeting we will be kicking off our Leap Year Raffle Benefit. This is the same as we did in 2004 and each ticket holder will have 29 chances to win the amount allocated for that day. If your name is drawn, you will receive the amount for the day drawn and your name will be returned to the drum and will be eligible for all subsequent daily drawings. The tickets will cost $5 each. Tickets will be available from Joe Hall 828-349-3477 or John O’Connor 828-369-0698. Remember these tickets make great stocking stuffers.
NOTICE: The 2008 dues notices were mailed on September 1st. Your 2008 should have been paid by October 15th. This year the board has directed that any member not current by October 15th will be suspended from membership and will not be entitled for any membership benefits.(IF YOU ARE NOT CURRENT PLEASE CALL THE LODGE SECRETARY AT 342-4056)
Congratulations to Brother Bryant Hodgins Jr his wife Tanya on the birth of their Son, Brady McKinley.
President Lee Whittaker is requesting that all members bring a bag of individually wrapped candy to the meeting on 10/23. Jim Dautel has requested that you place your name on the candy, so that his committee can sent you a thank you note. This candy will be used for distribution at our booth during Halloween-in-the Park
Please mark your calendars—The Annual Christmas Party will be held on Saturday, December 1st at Mill Creek Country Club. The cost will be $20 per person. If you plan on attending, please make checks out to MILL CREEK and forward to the President Lee Whittaker.
The Lodge web-site is being updated. Please visit our site fop81nc.org and let Brother Jim Lau (Jlau-ret@verizon.net) know what you think of the update. Jim would also like your feed back on any thing (items) that you might like added to the site. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NEW STATE PUBLICATION, The BlueNote, WILL BE ATTACHED TO OUR WEB-SITE WEEKLY. The BlueNote is also available for viewing on the State web page NCFOP.org
The Auxiliary will meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at Holly Springs Fellowship Hall. If any one is interested in joining the Auxiliary, please contact Natalie R Whitaker at NATALIE74@smnet.net
The Sheriff’s Office is looking for volunteers to man the front desk. If you have any interest in volunteering, please contact Brother Larry Miller @349-2264 or Sgt Eddie Green @349-2575.
